RELATIONSHIPS

I never thought I'd find myself in a very healthy relationship; truly living relationship goals x
But here I am, and I count my lucky stars for it.
I've learnt a few things that I believe help continue to grow and nurture our relationship.
Open and Honest Communication
We make it a goal to always communicate our feelings honestly with each other.
It's always an open floor for either of us to bring anything up, without any judgement, even if it's been brought up before.
This helps us stay connected and avoid misunderstandings.
Us vs. The Problem
We make it a point to remember it’s us vs. the problem, not me vs. you. This way of thinking helps us tackle conflicts as a team, looking for solutions instead of pointing fingers.
We also try to really listen to each other and understand where the other person is coming from
Planning for the Not So distant Future
We like to plan for the future. Not just the moving in, holiday's we should go on in the future, but the week ahead. On Monday's we discuss what the weekend is going to look like for us.
It helps for me personally who likes to plan ahead.
It also helps if one of us have different plans for the weekend, so that the other can plan ahead.
This keeps us excited and ready for the weekend ahead.
Supporting Each Other’s Growth
We want each other to grow, both as individuals and as a couple.Whether it’s career goals, hobbies, or personal development, we encourage and support one another every step of the way.
Watching each other succeed makes our bond stronger.
Asking what we can do to help the other.
Balancing Quality Time and Independence
We try to find the right balance between spending time together and giving each other space. It’s important to nurture the relationship, but also to make sure we each have time for ourselves.
I love taking myself on coffee dates, and this gives me time to think in my own head.
At the end of the day, it's a gut feeling knowing I'm living the relationship goals I always dreamed of.
The fact I can bring up absolutely anything to my partner and knowing I will not be judged, shamed etc, makes me realise I am in a healthy relationship.
